[LOCAL STORIES]

WILDLIFE SAFETY BROADCAST

A distant photo of a brick and concrete school building against a hazy sky. The windows are mostly dark.

Gloaming High School (GHS): where young minds go to grow.

A photograph of a round white water tower against a blue sky, peeking out from between a telephone pole and cluster of trees. Bold black lettering on the water tower reads "City of Gloaming"

This water tower has flawlessly served all county residences for generations.

Gloaming Church of God

A center of community and faith. This building was reconstructed on the grounds of the original wooden chapel, which was tragically lost in a deadly blaze.

A tilted photograph of a worn wooden two-story house with boarded windows and a slanted roof. Thick green vines carpet the surrounding yard and creep up onto the siding.

The historic Coroner House on Lone Dove Rd., potential subject of future architectural preservation efforts.

Lula Ray's All-Nite Cafe is a popular destination for Sunday brunch and family dining. While its management and menus may have changed over the years, this diner's classic, old-fashioned charm stands the test of time.

A photograph of a large tree beside a winding, downward-sloping forest path. Sunlight filters through the thick undergrowth.

Pay a visit to the Earnest S. Caterwaul nature preserve, colloquially known as "Weaver's Wood." This historic forest is painstakingly maintained around the clock by our local park ranger team.

A weathered sign supported by two wooden posts reads "Weaver's Wood Trail" stands in the middle of the woods.

A blurry photograph of two silhouetted people sitting in a canoe on a flat, gray lake. They are barely visible between the dark pines in the foreground.

Lake Abel is a valuable source of fishing and boating tourism.

It has also been the heart of Camp Gloaming for generations, serving as the primary location for nature scout activities.
